Michigan Works! is a workforce development association which serves job seekers and employers through a statewide system of service centers. Through this system, the public can easily access a wide range of employment and training services.

Preparing for a Post-Secondary Education

  • The College Board is the home page for the PSAT and SAT tests.  There is information on registering online for the test, test preparation, and much more.

  • Coursearch.com has helpful information on the best ways to prepare for all three tests.

  • Embark.com has free practice tests, online test prep, information about preparation courses, and more advice and information than you could want.

  • GoCollege.com has section called GoTestYourself.  It requires a free registration.

  • Number2.com has free online sample tests with test taking tips.  It requires a free registration.  It only offer test prep for the SAT.

  • TestU has test preparation materials for the ACT, PSAT, and SAT for "about the cost of a textbook"

  • The Riley Guide is a directory of employment and career information sources and services on the Internet. It is primarily intended to provide instruction for job seekers on how to use the Internet to their best advantage.

  • Bureau of Labor Statistics includes links to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, K-12 Educational resources, and a variety of employment statistics on both a national and regional level.

  • Apprenticeship Training, Employer and Labor Services website is dedicated to those who are thinking of pursuing an apprenticeship program.  An apprenticeship is a combination of on the job training and related instruction in which workers learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a highly skilled occupation.

  • PeaceCorps The men and women who serve as Peace Corps volunteers reflect the rich diversity of the United States, but they share a common spirit of service, dedication, and idealism.

  • Americorps is often referred to as the domestic PeaceCorps.  They teach children to read, make neighborhoods safer, build affordable homes, and respond to natural disasters through more than 1000 projects.
