Mrs. Julie Mountz started with Benzie Schools in September of 1985. Before joining Benzie Schools, she taught at TC St. Francis Elementary for three years. Later she taught at Crystal Lake and Platte River before joining Lake Ann. She has taught all grades except kindergarten and third.

 

Mrs. Mountz received her BA from Michigan State University. She majored in Language Arts, Social Science, and Fine Arts. She also earned her MA from Central Michigan University in Elementary Teaching.

 

Mrs. Mountz enjoys reading, traveling, long walks, and biking in her spare time. She grew up in Detroit, and lived there until she married her husband Tom in 1984. They built a house in rural Platte Township and raised their two adult children, Maggie and Luke.

 

Mrs. Mountz says, "My goal for students is to become lifelong learners who make conscious connections and choices about their experiences and the world around them. Parental interest and involvement are a necessary bridge to further education and successful career choices."
